Jeffreys Bay is renowned for its local calamari, also known as chokka in these parts. The chokka boats are a common site on our shoreline, especially at night their lights are turned on.
Chokka boats operate out of Port St Francis south of Jeffreys Bay or out of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) to the north. The bulk of the Chokka is exported. You can sample the tastier local calamari at local restaurants like The Greek in Jeffreys Bay or the Chokka Block in Port St Francis.
